  The Salty Pen: A CF Writing Group was founded in 2023 by Cindy Baldwin, a professional author with CF, as a way to connect with and mentor other writers with CF.

HOW IT WORKS

A Goal-Oriented Program

Rather than focusing on one specific kind of writing, our program is focused on helping individual writers clarify and achieve their personal goals. As a community, we will be the rising tide that lifts each of our boats!

A Community Hangout

Through our hangout space, we'll give feedback on one another's work, build connections with other writers, and navigate the ups and downs of a writing career together.

Zoom Calls

Throughout the year, we'll meet on Zoom to get inspired, support one another, and check in on how we're each doing on our writing goals. Some meetings will also include open-mic moments for members to read and get feedback on their work.

Professional Writing Classes

Periodically, The Salty Pen will host writing classes taught by professional writers, usually with a connection to the CF community. These classes will be offered free of charge to participants. Past classes we've had focused on traditional publishing, independent publishing, and drawing on personal experience to craft fiction.

One-on-One Mentoring

All group members will have the option to have a one-on-one appointment with Cindy for craft advice, feedback, and career guidance.

Monthly Independent Publishing Workshops

Once a month, we'll have a workshop for independent publishing taught by a successful self-published author. Members will have the chance to ask questions and get feedback on their self-publishing plans.
